Poppy Playtime Playtime Chapter 2hints at Poppy's goals and how she needs the protagonist to help her "set things right" going forward. Though the lore of Playtime Co. has been expanded upon and some questions players had have been answered, more is teased inPoppy Playtime Chapter 2, which ultimately leaves players with more questions and uncertainty as to who can be trusted.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 2continues directly after the end of first chapter, with the player in the room with Poppy's now empty case. It doesn't take long to find Poppy, who first gives the impression that she wishes to help the player escape from Playtime Co. and its murderous toys. The player takes on the role of a former Playtime Co. employee who has been sent a letter and a VHS tape saying that the employees who vanished a decade ago are still in the factory and need help. Despite having found the flower shown in the VHS, there remains more to uncover before the secret messages and lore of Poppy Playtime are fully unraveled.

ThoughPoppy Playtime Chapter 2 introduces Poppy as a helpful guide and Mommy Long Legs as the primary villain of the section, it doesn't take long to figure out that the situation is not as clear as it first seemed. The player goes through a series of games to earn pieces of the train code from Mommy Long Legs, who has taken Poppy prisoner after finding out that she was going to simply give them to the player. Mommy Long Legs informs the player about the games, and a recorded clip of Stella Greyber explains what traits the games test for, implying that children who pass the games will be taken and used in Playtime Co.'s Poppy Playtimeexperiments.
Playtime Co.'s Experiments In Poppy Playtime Chapter 2
This revelation that the children are being used for experiments is reinforced at the climax of the chapter when the player boards the train. As they're about to leave the factory, Poppy's tone turns sinister as she says that the player is too perfect for her to let leave and that they will help her set things right. The track for the train to take shifts, implying that the kids who passed the games would be taken on one track with the train, while the kids who didn't pass were able to leave the factory on the second track. Poppy sets the train to the track for kids who passed the tests, and Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 ends with the player being taken deeper into the Playtime Co. Factory, derailing the train, and finally losing consciousness.
Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 gives players evidence to reinforce a belief they already had: Playtime Co. is making people into toys. A letter that can be found discussingPoppy Playtime Chapter 2antagonist Mommy Long Legs,Experiment 1222, showingthe subject of the experiment being a woman named Marie Payne. While Mommy Long Legs behaved well in front of the children, the letter mentions that her growing aggression is a problem that needs to be addressed. It seems that Playtime Co. had an issue with the people who became toys growing to be upset that they were made into toys, most likely without their consent.

One of the most rebellious experiments is Experiment 1006, referred to as "The Prototype" in one of the VHS tapes. The tapes also mention that the researchers suspect that Experiment 1006 is behind some events that occurred shortly before the tape was recorded. Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 gives further hints that Experiment 1006 might become the real villain of Poppy Playtime with Mommy Long Legs' comments as she's being crushed near the end of the chapter. She yells that the player is going to make her part of him, and then Experiment 1006 drags away half of her body that fell to the floor rather than being crushed. The person she is referring to is unclear, but it isn't a fate she wants.
Poppy Wants To Set Things Right In Poppy Playtime Chapter 2
While Poppy tells the player that they are perfect and will help her set things right, what exactly she wants to set right is not yet known. Poppy Playtime has been careful with their characterization of Poppy, making her motives and goals ambiguous. Though she helps the player, she implies that she spent the duration of her time trapped in her case planning what she would do if she was ever freed. This could mean that she never intended to help the player escape and was instead going to switch the train tracks from the beginning.
There are a couple candidates for who Poppy may be working with, and doing so would solidify Poppy as the realPoppy Playtime villain. The first option would be Experiment 1006. Poppy is glad that the player kills Mommy Long Legs, which may imply that she supports Mommy Long Legs becoming part of "him." In which case, setting things right might mean killing the toys and ending the torment of the consciousnesses trapped within them. Alternatively, Poppy could be working with Laithe Pierre and Elliot Ludwig. This duo makes the most sense in the context of the fan theory that speculates that Poppy is actually Stella Greyber, who shared a passion for toy-making with them. Laithe wanted to create the most lifelike toys, while Elliot may have been searching for a path to immortality, given that a tragic loss led him to help create Playtime Co. In this scenario, setting things right could be perfecting the human to toy transition with a subject Poppy deems to be perfect: the player.
Poppy PlaytimeChapter 2 has new toy monsters, new challenges, and few answers - what answers it gives are superseded by more questions about Playtime Co. and what fate has befallen its employees. Given the experiments that have been conducted by the researchers of the company, it's unsurprising that the employees who have been left behind as toys are upset with the player, who is a former employees who wasn't turned into a toy and trapped. While not much else is known about the player's character, Mommy Long Legs mentions that the player deserves to be trapped in the factory more than anybody else. If this is the case, then perhaps the followup toPoppy Playtime Chapter 2will reveal that the player is none other than Laithe Pierre or Elliot Ludwig.
